The Associated Students of the University of Arizona has signed its first resolution of the semester, a letter voicing the student government’s support of fare-free transit.

ASUA met for its weekly meeting on Sept. 14, only a day after President Patrick Robles and other ASUA members attended the Tucson Mayor and Council meeting to voice their concerns and advocate for free transit.

In addition to voting to approve the said resolution, the ASUA Senate also held discussions on the approval of a longer letter of support, backed up with statistics and more details on their stance. The senate opted to table the letter for later discussion and allow for more time to edit and update the letter.

The upcoming meeting would concern which students would have to pay mandatory meal plans if they were to be reinstated.

ASUA members voiced their concerns that not enough student groups had been invited to discuss the issue.

The senate also received reports from multiple members of the cabinet in regard to ASUA elections, campus culture and climate.

ASUA members are to receive their first of four stipends on Sept. 19.

ASUA members will attend the next Tucson City Council meeting on Sept. 27.
