The suspect in a bank robbery just west of the UA campus is still at large after making off with an undisclosed amount of money just after noon today.
Tucson Police Department officers responded to the 12:24 p.m. call, and were on the scene within 60 seconds, but not before the Hispanic male suspect was seen fleeing north on Stone Avenue toward Speedway Boulevard, said Sgt. Manriquez of TPD.
No injuries were reported, as the suspect was “”in and out,”” Manriquez said.
After the suspect entered the Bank of America at the 900 block of North Stone Avenue, he gave a note to the teller requesting money, and the teller complied. No weapon was seen or implied, and the suspect was wearing dark clothing, said Sgt. Mark Robinson, police spokesperson.
Police confirmed that there were customers inside of the bank but could not say how many.
The Daily Wildcat will continue to release information as it is uncovered.
