The University of Arizona’s Repertory Theatre is presenting “Proof.” This play, written by David Auburn, was winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award’s best play. It’s about a girl named Catherine, following her brilliant mathematician father’s death, as she discovers things about her father and life. The performances will take place at the Tornabene Theatreon campus Feb. 24-25 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee times are Feb. 19 and Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. Regular ticket prices are $28, seniors, UA employees and veterans pay $26 and students get in for $15. ‘Wish upon a Star,’ then capture it
Do you like to gaze at twinkling stars at night? Do you want to learn how to successfully take pictures of the night sky? Here’s the ‘deets’ to learn how to do so.
Nature photographer James Capo is holding a workshop called First Steps in Night Photography. On Feb. 22 from 10:00 a.m. to midnight you can learn how to use techniques and tools pros use to photograph the sky at night at Agua Caliente Regional Park, 12325 E. Roger Rd. This workshop best benefits people who already have a camera capable of long exposure, as well as photo-editing software. Non-members pay $10 and park members pay $5. Carnaval Wildcat Style
Have you ever wanted to go to Carnaval in Brazil but never had the chance (or money) to? Keep reading.
The UA’s Center of Latin America Studies said “Venha para a fiesta” and is holding Carnaval on the UA Mall on Friday, Feb. 24 from noon to 2:00 p.m. It will be taking place on the stage at the UA Mall. The reason for this Brazilian style bash is to celebrate CLAS’s new Brazil Studies Initiative, and they want people to join in on the fun. There will be dancing, Brazilian foods, performances by local artists, soccer and more.
Kindness, just do it
Have you ever meet a person who was so unbelievably kind and wanted to know their secret? Now you can learn how and apply it to your life.
The Commission on the Status of Women is hosting a talk called ‘Kind Wildcats: The Power of Kindness in Daily Life’ on Feb. 24 at 2:00 p.m. Guest lecturer and Director of Education for Ben’s Bells, Dr. Laura Gronewold will be talking about the positive effects of using kindness in relationships, school, work and more. The event will be taking place in the Silver and Sage Room in Old Main. RSVP here.

Do you love the “Fiesta de los Vaqueros” but wish to celebrate it in a more artsy way? Put on them boots and check this out.

The 7th Annual Rodeo Days Arts Celebration will take place on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This free event will be held at Plaza Palomino, 2920-2990 N. Swan Rd. Here you can find artists, live music, local craft beer, dancing, a quick draw, food, pony and horse-drawn carriage rides and more. This event benefits the Gospel Rescue Mission homeless shelters of Tucson and the Tucson Association of Museums. There will also be a western dress costume contest. So make sure to rock your best cowboy and cowgirl looks.
