Arizona men’s tennis will square off against Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara this weekend in California. The Wildcats will play Cal Poly today and UC Santa Barbara on Sunday.
“Both of these teams are strong across the board, one through six,” head coach Tad Berkowitz said in a press release. “They’re pretty even all the way down their lineups. The main thing for us is that we need to be ready to go at all our spots to handle their depth.”
Cal Poly has posted an 0-6 record on the season, recently losing to No. 16 Pepperdine and Nevada. Leading the team is senior Marco Comuzzo and freshman Ben Donovan. UC Santa Barbara faces its third Pac-12 Conference game in a row and has gone 1-2 against the conference. Leading the Gauchos is junior Tobias Galskov, who is ranked No. 79 in the nation.
Arizona women’s tennis will compete in another double-header for the second week in a row at home. The Wildcats will play Grand Canyon (0-1) and UTEP (1-2) today at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Then on Saturday, the Wildcats will face Sacramento State (0-3) at noon.
Arizona is currently undefeated and led by senior Kim Stubbe and freshman Lauren Marker, who have both not lost in singles matches this season.
GCU is led by freshman Alexandra Petrzalkova and junior Priscilla Annoual. Recently, the team lost to New Mexico 4-3. UTEP is just getting off of a huge win against UTSA and is looking to rally past the Wildcats with the help of senior Rebeca Calvillo and junior Davina Meza. Sacramento State is the defending Big Sky Champion and looks to erase its 0-3 start. Each of the women’s matches will take place at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
