The staple shoe for spring weather is without a doubt the sandal. Its airy and open concept looks fashionable and is exceptional for Tucson’s warm temperatures.
Although it seems as if Tucson skipped spring and headed straight for summer, springtime looks are based mainly around the open-toed shoe. The styles that are in at the moment include Gladiators, lace-up, fringe and low-top boot styles. Any of these styles can pair perfectly with a fashionable outfit.
“I would say Gladiator, fringe or open-toed boots. Tie-ups will be huge,” said Mary Morton, junior studying retail and consumer sciences. “Lace-up booties are totally in, but ultimately anything that laces up or ties up hands down is in.”
As for the colors, neutral and pastel shades are in this upcoming season. These colors include pastel pink and blue, or brown and black. Pastel colors are an important staple for the springtime feeling.
“Fun colors and different prints are essential for the sandal,” Olivia Jhaveri, a junior studying retail and consumer sciences. “Lots of shoes are either white, baby blue or blush pink.”
Nudes are also a popular shoe color in addition to pastels, black and brown. It is important to not just stick with one color palette, and to mix up the shoe color.
“Definitely more nudes, whites and light pink,” Morton said. “Nude browns compliment a suede style boot, or go for the nude color. I’ve also seen a lot of black — it doesn’t go out of style.”
As for where to buy the perfect pair of sandals to accent the spring wardrobe, there are many different places to choose from. Don’t limit the shopping centers to just in-store; there are also places online to buy the perfect pair to compliment an outfit.
“Steve Madden is a good go-to cute sandal brand,” Jhaveri said. “Off-brand stores like Aldo are stepping their game up and becoming more fashionable. There are also plenty of cute lace-up Gladiators at Boutique 816 (https://www.instagram.com/colletteclothing_az/).”
“I’ve found that some places that have the best sandals are actually online,” Morton said. “My go to places are, Missguided, REVOLVE, Junk Trunk or also the in-store Grand Central [Clothing] off of University.”
