Arizona freshman Ray Smith tore his right ACL and will miss the 2015-16 season, according to a report by Scout.com.
This is the second time in a little over a year that Smith has suffered an ACL injury. Last summer, he tore the ACL in his left knee, forcing him to sit out much of his senior year of high school.
Smith was expected to be one of Arizona’s top threats this season.
Allonzo Trier, another UA freshman, tweeted a message of support to Smith late Friday night, writing, “My thoughts and prayers with my brother @raysmith2297 right now. You’ll be back better and stronger than ever. #AllLove.”
Arizona begins its season Nov. 13 against Pacific.
