To our new and returning students at the University of Arizona, welcome to the start of a new academic year. This is a wonderful time to be a member of the UA community. The UA is as popular as it has ever been, setting records this year in freshman, transfer, out-of-state and overall enrollment.
Our beautiful campus is undergoing an upgrade – evidenced by the renovation of Coronado Hall, enhancements in the Student Union Memorial Center, renewal of Old Main and the construction of the Modern Streetcar. We appreciate your patience with the construction and hope that you will enjoy the results!
You are the heartbeat of the UA, and you have been missed. We all looked forward with anticipation to the return of the lively and energetic campus that you create. You also are valued members of the Tucson community. I hope that all of you will take the opportunity to get to know this wonderful city and region and to get involved in public service and community activities. Your participation is noticed and appreciated.
The excitement and optimism of a new academic year are palpable in the air as you begin or return to your studies. Please enjoy this time and savor the opportunities before you.
Best wishes for a wonderful year ahead. See you at the first home football game at 7:30 p.m. on September 1.
— Ann Weaver Hart, UA president
