Minister-turned-atheist to speak at union tonight
Dan Barker, an ordained minister who renounced his faith to become an atheist, will be speaking in a free lecture at the Student Union Memorial Center this evening.
The former clergyman and author will be talking about his conversion away from faith and answering audience questions from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the SUMC North Ballroom, and is presented by the Geniuses of Diversity: UA Freethinkers’ club and the Southern Arizona chapter of the Center for Inquiry.
Students can get free stuff at techno fair today
Students will be able to win free electronic equipment and try out new gadgets at a technology fair coming to campus today.
The Techno Overload Tour will be on the UA Mall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students will be able to test out gear such as electric guitars and iPods, though the items will not be for sale.
Passersby will be able to get free stuff such as mp3 players, speakers and an Xbox. There will also be demonstrations on much of the equipment.
The event is put on by the Consumer Electronics Association.
