Arizona fell to Florida Gulf Coast 1-0 on Friday at Mulcahy Stadium giving them their second loss of the season.
The Wildcats, who out-shot FGCU 19-2, were shutout for the second game of the season and were unable to find the back of the net by the end of the night.
Not being able to put the ball in the net is becoming a familiar feeling for Arizona. In a span of four games the Wildcats have scored two goals. The Pac-12 is very competitive, and Arizona has been unable to rack up wins in games that they have outplayed their opponent.

FGCU’s forward Varin Ness was able to get the Eagle’s on the board due to a miscommunication in the Wildcat’s back line where the ball hopped past a defender.
“It looked like one of our backs slid over and then it skipped past her,” Arizona head coach Tony Amato said. “I don’t know where our other backs were when that happened I’ll have to look at the film.”
Arizona had its chances to equalize or even score multiple goals, but shots were either a bit wide of getting into the net, or made contact with the post like on midfielder Kelcey Cavarra’s shot.
It’s been that kind of stretch these past three matches for the Wildcats where shots for one reason or another just are not going in. Senior Charlotte Brascia alluded to the team’s misfortune on not being able to finish.
“It is so unlucky, that’s what soccer is though,” Brascia said. “People don’t go back and look at how many times you hit the post they look at how many times you score a goal.”
The Wildcats will have to get over their frustration of Friday’s match in order to get ready to take on another strong team, Texas Tech, who came back to beat Arizona State earlier in the day improving their record to 5-1.
“I think our whole team is looking forward to regrouping tomorrow, having a good training session and getting prepared for the next game and coming out playing Texas Tech and getting that win on Sunday,” Arizona’s midfielder Morgan McGarry said.
Arizona needs to hold up a positive attitude in order to try to get out their slump.
“We’re a pretty competitive team, no one likes to lose,” Cavarra said.
Arizona will take on Texas Tech on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium and can be seen on Pac-12 Network.
