    Olympian Phelps to host SNL

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Michael Phelps is trading the pool for the “”Saturday Night Live”” stage.

The recording-breaking swimmer, who took home eight gold medals at the Bejing Olympics, will host the 34th season premiere of NBC’s long-running late-night sketch-comedy series on Sept. 13. Joining the 23-year-old athlete, as musical guest, will be rapper Lil Wayne.

DMX faces charges of animal cruelty – again

MIAMI (AP) – Rapper DMX has pleaded out a Miami drug case and now awaits extradition to face more charges in Arizona.

The 37-year-old rapper and actor pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted marijuana and cocaine possession and was sentenced to time served. His lawyer Bradford Cohen says DMX is still in custody, waiting for Arizona authorities to pick him up on drug and animal cruelty charges there.

Cohen says DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, decided to plead guilty when he was denied bail earlier this week due to the outstanding Arizona warrant.

Lohan in another feud with father

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Lindsay Lohan had words for her father on her blog.

The 22-year-old actress lashed out at her father, Michael, by calling him a “”public embarrassment”” and a “”bully”” in a MySpace blog entry posted Thursday. Earlier in the week, Michael said in an interview with E! that Lohan gal pal Samantha Ronson was “”using”” his daughter.

“”If you have something to say to me, say it to my face – that’s what I have believed my whole life – don’t be a coward and say it to others first, let alone all the media in the world,”” Lohan wrote.

In a separate post, Ronson said she was angry when she first heard about Michael’s attack on her and called him a man “”who is so desperate for attention that he goes to the media whenever possible.”” Ronson went on to say she felt “”no need to publicly defend my role in Lindsay’s life – I’m just sorry that she likes me more than him.””

After the blog entries were posted Thursday, Michael told OK! magazine in an exclamation point-heavy statement that his concerns about Ronson were all generated by ex-wife Dina.

“”All I want is for Lindsay to be healthy and in a good relationship,”” he also said in the statement. “”I want her to use the gifts she has in the best ways and to help others! I said it from the very beginning: Show me who you walk with and I will tell you who you are! People may deceive us, but our eyes and facts don’t! OPEN YOUR EYES!!!””
