Arizona sophomore Jordan Hill will soon have surgery on his right wrist to repair ligament damage, the Web site goazcats.com reported Monday.

Hill has been playing pickup games with his teammates in McKale Center and has shown signs of agony at times.

Hill has been playing with his wrist wrapped, and dunked several balls one-handed with his right hand Tuesday. Once, he came down wincing and holding his wrist in pain.

X-rays have revealed ligament damage to his wrist, which will soon be cleaned up surgically. The surgery will sideline Hill for a few weeks, keeping him out of the weight room and daily pickup games, goazcats.com reported.

“”I’m not sure how I hurt it but sometime after this semester ended it starting bugging me,”” Hill told the Web site Sunday.

Arizona assistant coach Josh Pastner wouldn’t give any specifics about the injury, but he was optimistic about next season.

“”All I can say is that he’ll be 100 percent when we’re ready to start the season,”” he said in a phone interview Tuesday.

Arizona’s team trainer Justin Kokoskie was also contacted, but would not release any information due to player confidentiality.
