With its 49-45 comeback victory over California, Arizona football started the season 4-0 for the first time since 2010. Redshirt freshman quarterback Anu Solomon threw a for a school-record 520 yards.
Senior cross country runner Kristina Aubert remained perfect in her Arizona career, winning the Dave Murray Invitational. Aubert, who transferred from Arkansas State, won her other race as a Wildcat at NAU.
No. 18 Arizona volleyball wrapped up nonconference play with an 11-1 record, only losing at then-No. 2 Texas. The Wildcats are 6-0 at home and haven’t even lost a set, owning an 18-0 record.
Arizona soccer beat Idaho 3-0 to win its fourth game in a row. The Wildcats wrapped up nonconference play with a 6-1-1 record and second-year head coach Tony Amato led the UA to a 5-1-3 record in nonconference play last year.

With its 26-10 loss to Utah, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke dropped to 2-2 this season, while the man he replaced, current UA head coach Rich Rodriguez, improved to 4-0. Hoke has gone 11-2, 8-5 and 7-6 at Michigan, while Rodriguez’s record improved each season at UM: 3-9, 5-7 and 7-6.
Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch suffered a season-ending injury celebrating a sack of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Tulloch mimicked the “Discount Double Check” motion Rodgers does in State Farm commercials.
Bay Area football teams lost twice in Arizona over the weekend. The UA beat California 49-45 on Saturday, and the Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers 23-14.
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was suspended for the first half, then the whole game, of the Seminoles’ game with Clemson for yelling, “Fuck her right in the pussy,” like the popular vine video, in the middle of campus. Winston tried to suit up but was sent to the locker room by FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher.
