The Arizona men’s tennis team will face its toughest competition of the fall tournament season this weekend at the All-American Championships.
The Wildcats sent five players to Tulsa, Okla., in both singles and doubles draws, including juniors Pat Metham and Ravid Hazi with pre-qualifying rounds beginning today. Sophomores Andres Carrasco and Jay Goldman, and freshman Jason Zafiros are scheduled to compete in the main draw on Saturday.
“”This is a good opportunity for our guys to play some of the top college players in the country,”” said UA head coach Tad Berkowitz in a press release. “”All fall we have stressed the importance of gaining college experience and the All-American Championships is no better place to achieve that.””
The tournament attracts some of the nation’s top-ranked individual players, including No. 1 Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Oklahoma State.
The tournament begins today and ends on Oct. 12.
