2006 pac-10 championships
The No. 26 Arizona men’s golf team slipped two places to finish in fifth place at the Pacific 10 Conference Championships that ended yesterday at Big Horn Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
The Wildcats finished with a four-round combined score of 1,444, good for 24-over-par.
It was just one of those days across the board, as all the teams in the running struggled in their final rounds.
No. 5 UCLA dominated the competition and put up an even par score of 1420. The Bruins’ closest competition came from No. 29 Washington, as the Huskies had a four-round score of a 12-over-par 1,432.
Going into the round today, UCLA had command over the tournament with a 6-under-par three-round score but lost six strokes to par in its final round. No. 7 ASU came in third place and No. 19 Southern California finished fourth.
Junior Henry Liaw earned top-finisher honors for Arizona, as he tied for eighth place overall with an even-par 284. Freshman Ben Fox came in 12th place with a score of 2-over-par 286, while junior Brian Prouty came in 13th place at 3-over-par.
The top finisher for the tournament was UCLA sophomore Daniel Im, who shot a 7-under-par, 277 for the tournament. Im is ranked No. 33 as an individual.
The Wildcats will take to the course next in the NCAA West Regional, which Arizona will host May 18-20.
