Arizona looks to another matchup against Sam Houston State

After surviving the elimination game against Delaware with a
6-5 extra-inning victory, the Arizona baseball team will face Sam Houston State
at 2 p.m. CST Sunday at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

The Wildcats and the Bearkats faced off in the opening round
of the NCAA Lubbock Regional, with the Bearkats coming out victorious, 5-4.

During their first matchup, the Wildcats only used two
pitchers, so the Bearkats did not get a large look at the Arizona bullpen.
However, Arizona used five pitchers against Delaware on Saturday. 

The Arizona offense has recorded 10 or more hits in both of
their regional games this weekend, with a solo homer from sophomore Alfonso
Rivas being the difference maker against Delaware on Saturday.

The Bearkats head into their second matchup with Arizona
after a 6-0 loss to No. 5 Texas Tech. The game was the second time Sam Houston
State was shutout this season.

Sam Houston State only registered four hits against Tech, struggling
to get runners on. The Bearkat pitching staff also struggled during the game,
allowing nine hits and four walks. 

Arizona and Sam Houston State’s matchup will decide who
faces Tech in the regional championship game.

The winner will have to defeat Tech twice, once on Sunday
and once Monday, in order to win the regional and advance to a super regional.
