Arizona men’s basketball head coach Sean Miller landed another five-star recruit on Monday night when class of 2016 shooting guard Rawle Alkins committed to the Wildcats on ESPNU.
Alkins, a New York native who plays for Word of God Christian Academy, becomes the third commitment of Arizona’s 2016 recruiting class. He joins center Lauri Markkanen and combo guard Kobi Simmons.
Alkins visited Arizona twice in the last two months, including an official visit on Feb. 12-13.
The 6-foot-5 guard chose Arizona over a host of schools including St. John’s College, UNLV, North Carolina and North Carolina State.
With the commitment, Arizona’s 2016 class ranks No. 9 nationally according to 247Sports.com.
Arizona is still after Josh Jackson, a 6-foot-7 shooting guard, who is the consensus No. 1 overall recruit in the class.
