Most of the UA main campus experienced a power outage on Saturday around 2 p.m. during maintenance to an electricity turbine.
“Unfortunately, a worker cut a piece of electricity he should not have,” said Chris Kopach, director of Facilities Management.
The power was out for about an hour and a half, Kopach said. Facilities Management was able to use other electricity sources to get the campus “back up and running,” he said.
Facilities Management is continuing to repair the turbine. The UA community was informed of the outage through UAlert text messages and emails and was advised to avoid using elevators until power was restored.
