SALT LAKE CITY– Despite slow start from Deandre Ayton and Allonzo Trier, Arizona Men’s basketball leads Utah 46-32 at halftime Thursday in the Huntsman Center.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright led the Wildcats with 13 points and one assist. Jackson-Cartwright shot 4-for-5, attacked the rim and went 3-for-3 from three.
Arizona shot 52 percent from the floor and 57 percent from three while holding Utah to 37 percent and 3-for-12 from deep. The Wildcats also out rebounded the Utes 25-to-13 and grabbed seven offensive rebounds over Utah’s two.
Deandre Ayton and Allonzo Trier both had five points in the first half. Ayton only had one point until 7:45 to go in the first half but collected six rebounds as well as chasing down a loose ball and founding Jackson-Cartwright for a open three.
Rawle Alkins and Dusan Ristic each had nine points and Ristic grabbed seven rebounds.
Arizona got off to a quick start and led the Utes 10-3 at the first media timeout. Utah made a small comeback, but Arizona answered with a 9-0 run midway through the second half to put the Wildcats up 27-12. The Wildcats held the lead and ended the half up 14.
