The University of Arizona Police Department alerted the campus community of an off campus shooting on Helen and Euclid in the afternoon of March 11.
The first UAlert message was sent out at 1:37 p.m., reporting the shooting and informing the community to avoid the area, as police were on the scene.
The community received a second alert at 1:41 p.m. that the Tucson Police Department had closed Euclid in all directions and that the investigation was continuing. They stated there was “no known threat to campus at that time.”
Later, a third alert was released, saying that the investigation was continuing and that anyone with information should call 911. This was followed by a fourth alert at 2:11 p.m., which stated again that the investigation was continuing and Euclid was closed to vehicle traffic.
The community received a notification at 2:25 p.m. that there was no ongoing threat to campus but the TPD’s investigation was still ongoing and Helen/Euclid remained closed.
This was followed a minute later by an all clear notification, which also referred individuals impacted by the UAlert to university and campus resources.
A description of the suspect or the outcome of this incident was not released through the UAlert system.
