The University of Arizona soccer team lost to Utah 0-1 in their first conference game of the season on Thursday, Sep. 12 at Ute field. The Wildcats are now 5-1-2 on the season and 0-1 in the new conference.
The match started off slow, but with high intensity on both sides. Utah was aggressive, causing multiple fouls, but the Wildcats fought back continuing to stay in the game. It was a constant back-and-forth throughout the first half.
Going into half, the score was 0-0, and both teams had two shots on goal as well as four fouls.
Coming out of halftime, the Wildcats started to apply pressure to the Utah defense. However, the pressure the Cats gave wasn’t enough, allowing Utah to get the first and only point of the game in the 67th minute of the game.
Arizona continued to play at a fast pace but Utah started to take complete control of the game. Despite having several corner kicks late in the game, the Wildcats were not able to get many shots on goal in the second half.
Arizona will be traveling to Waco, Texas to play Baylor on Thursday, Sep. 19 at 5 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field as they continue to look for their first conference win.
