University of Utah, Kansas State University, University of Arizona and University of Kansas entered the season with the lowest odds to win the Big 12. After six weeks of play, none of them are even in the top four of the conference standings.
Meanwhile, BYU, which started with the longest odds at +12000, remains undefeated and now sits in second place. The wild Big 12 season continues this weekend.
Conference Games
Houston 30 – TCU 19
University of Houston secured a 30-19 victory over TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium, ending a nine-game losing streak to the Horned Frogs. The Cougars jumped to a 17-0 lead and never trailed, fueled by sophomore quarterback Zeon Chriss, who threw for 141 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 97 yards, including a 71-yard score. Houston’s defense put on one of their best performances of the season, forcing four TCU turnovers and racking up three sacks. Despite a late push by TCU, highlighted by Josh Hoover’s 233-yard, 2-touchdown performance, the Cougars were able to hold on and win 30-19.
No. 16 Iowa State 43 – Baylor 21
No. 16 Iowa State University rallied from an early deficit to beat Baylor University 43-21 on Saturday night at Jack Trice Stadium, improving to 5-0. Rocco Becht threw for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Jaylon Jackson rushed for 107 yards and 2 second-half touchdowns. Iowa State scored 24 unanswered points after trailing 21-19 in the third quarter. Baylor’s quarterback Sawyer Robertson threw for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns, but the Cyclones’ defense held strong, allowing just 79 rushing yards and forcing a key second-half interception to seal the victory.
West Virginia 38 – Oklahoma State 14
University of West Virginia powered past Oklahoma State University 38-14, fueled by 389 rushing yards and a dominant defensive performance. Jahiem White led with 158 rushing yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Garrett Greene added 159 passing yards and a touchdown. CJ Donaldson Jr. ran for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Mountaineers built a 31-7 halftime lead and held Oklahoma to just 227 total yards, marking the Cowboys’ third straight loss.
Florida 24 – UCF 13
University of Florida defeated University of Central Florida 24-13, fueled by a strong first half in which the Gators built a 24-3 lead. Quarterback Graham Mertz passed for 179 yards and a touchdown and running backs Montrell Johnson Jr. and Ja’Kobi Jackson each scored a rushing touchdown. Florida’s defense, which had struggled early in the season, came up big, holding UCF’s high-powered offense to just 273 total yards, including only 108 on the ground. UCF scored once in the second half with a 13-yard run from RJ Harvey but could not complete the comeback as Florida’s defense secured the victory.
ASU 35 – Kansas 31
In a thrilling back-and-forth battle, ASU edged out a win over Kansas 35-31 with a last-minute touchdown in their first-ever meeting. After five lead changes in the fourth quarter, ASU’s Sam Leavitt connected with Jordyn Tyson for a game-winning three-yard touchdown with 16 seconds remaining. Leavitt threw four touchdowns, while running back Cam Skattebo powered the Sun Devils with 182 yards on the ground. Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels threw 2 touchdowns and ran for another, but his final attempt was batted down, sealing ASU’s victory.
Texas Tech 28 – Arizona 22
Texas Tech University rallied to defeat Arizona 28-22 after nearly squandering a 15-point halftime lead. Tahj Brooks shined with 128 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, while Jacob Rodriguez forced a crucial late fumble that set up Brooks’ final score. The Red Raiders built an 18-3 lead at halftime, applying consistent pressure on Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita, who was intercepted twice. Despite a comeback effort from the Wildcats, which included a 19-18 lead in the fourth quarter, Texas Tech regained control with Gino Garcia’s field goal and Brook’s late game touchdown.
