The courtyard outside of the Forbes building is actually part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, which hosts social events there. Many of the plants, such as the four blue Mexican fan palms, were planted in the 1970s, said Elizabeth Davison, director of the Campus Arboretum. The vine that covers the edge of the courtyard was also planted in the ’70s, and appears in the “”Centennial Book,”” which shows the photographic history of the UA.
There used to be a stage at the end of the courtyard as well, but it has been taken out. Green houses are attached to the edges, where students can do research and monitor plants. The courtyard is part of the Campus Arboretum, which is scattered all across campus.
