Honor victims, not a sports team
Had we been family of one of the victims of the Jan. 8 Tucson shootings, we would have gotten up and walked out of Wednesday evening’s “”memorial service.”” Someone should have advised the audience — since they seemed not to know it — that whooping, hollering, whistling and wild applause belong at a sporting event or a political rally, not a memorial service. How about showing a little solemnity, dignity and respect when gathered to honor the dead and injured? The crowd’s behavior was an embarrassment to us, as U of A alumni, and an embarrassment to Arizona.
