With 19 days until the election, thousands chanted “Hillary” as Congressman Ruben Gallego officially declared Arizona a swing state at an Arizona Democratic Party rally hosted by Michelle Obama. Gallego said that people like Sheriff Joe Arpaio turned Arizona into the battleground that now has democrats winning.
“Arizona is a battle state because you made it one,” Gallego said. “We want it more.”

At the Phoenix Convention Center, Michelle Obama spoke about her hope for the future. She said that with all the negativity surrounding this election, it’s easy to give up hope. Obama said hope is the one thing that cannot be lost — that hope is what makes people work hard, believe in a better future and hope is what this campaign represents.
“This is what hope looks like,” she said pointing to the screaming crowd.
Obama urged the crowd to vote for Hillary Clinton by telling them that she is the hope for the future. She said that Donald Trump represents fear and conspiracy — the opposites of hope.
At the end of her speech, she challenged the crowd to get out and vote.
“If you like my speech, then go vote,” Obama said. “If you want to stand up for your fellow Americans, then go vote. If you want to elect Hillary Clinton, vote.”
