A man was arrested for a warrant at the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., at 9:07 a.m. April 11.

At 8:38 a.m. an officer responded to the union in reference to a report of a disoriented man talking to himself. The man said he was “”OK”” and was just hanging around the UA Mall to “”get free stuff”” from the vendors, according to reports.

A records check showed he had a warrant from the South Tucson Police Department.

He was booked into Pima County Jail.

A man was told to stop calling the UA football offices and hanging up, at 3:04 p.m. April 11.

At 11:16 a.m., an officer responded to McKale Center, 1721 E. Enke Drive, to discuss a report of harassment. He met with a receptionist who said the office had received numerous phone calls from a man since the weekend before Valentine’s Day.

She said staff members were receiving the phone calls up to eight times a day. The number was private and untraceable.

She provided several dates and times when the phone calls were received and said the department did not want to pursue harassment charges, only that they wanted the calls, and subsequent hang-ups, to stop.

University Information Technology Services was contacted and provided dates and times when the team offices received the calls. A UITS representative provided the officer with the number making the calls.

At 3:04 p.m., the officer called the number and spoke with a man who said he was calling the offices because he was interested in a coaching job.

He said he hung up prior to talking to a staff member because he was nervous.

During the conversation, the officer could tell the man suffered from a mental disability. The man was told to stop calling and hanging up or he could be arrested and charged with harassment.

He said he would not call any more.

The receptionist said she was familiar with the man and that he called and left hard-to-understand voicemails inquiring about coaching opportunities with the football team.

A student was transported to Kino Community Hospital, 2800 E. Ajo Way, for psychological care at 11:15 a.m. April 8.

At 11:10 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of East Sixth Street and North Campbell Avenue when he heard of a woman wanting to harm herself, last seen in the area of East Sixth Street and North Santa Rita Avenue.

The officer made contact with the woman, a student who said she needed mental health care because she felt awful.

She was transported to Kino Hospital for evaluation.

A copy of the case was sent to the Dean of Students Office.

A laptop was stolen from the UA Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., at 11:33 a.m. April 8.

At 11:42 a.m., an officer met with a man who said he was sitting at a table in a computer area of the library when he received a telephone call.

He turned his chair around to talk so he would not bother others around him, and when he turned back around a couple of minutes later, his red Dell laptop was missing.

He asked everyone around him if they had seen anything, and everyone said they saw nothing. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
