The University of Arizona Police Department received a report at 10:04 a.m. Sunday of a possible driver under the influence of intoxicants near East University Boulevard and North Euclid Avenue.
An officer followed the vehicle to 437 E. Geronimo Bluff Loop, where the driver pulled into a garage. Tucson Police Department units also arrived and officers witnessed, from an open window, a man walk out of sight with a large bong and a small baggie that appeared to contain marijuana.
After talking with the occupants of the car, officers identified the driver. Paraphernalia and marijuana were found, and four of the occupants were arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
All four were cited and released.
Someone repositioned a surveillance camera at the UA Museum of Art, 1031 N. Olive Road, between 5:30 a.m. Friday and 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb.23.
An officer responded to the museum Saturday and met with a security guard who said the camera on the exterior south side of the museum was repositioned to point upward, which caused it to break.
The guard said he was unable to obtain or review the surveillance camera footage.
There was black spray paint on the wall directly east of the surveillance camera which said “”SIERUS,”” and appeared to have been applied with a stencil.
There was a white shed, and a green transformer box to the west of the shed, underneath the surveillance camera. The officer noticed two handprints on the top portion of the west side of the transformer box and several shoe prints on top of the transformer box.
The guard said he had already gone on top of the transformer box and shed. Several other shoe prints on top of the transformer box did not belong to him.
The officer was unable to recover any fingerprints from the camera, and he repositioned the camera to face in its original direction as a deterrent.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student was cited at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription-only drugs Friday, Feb. 22.
At 2:12 p.m. an officer responded to Coronado after someone smelled an odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms. When the officer arrived he identified a strong odor coming from a certain room and knocked on the door.
A student allowed the officer to enter the room. A records check on the student showed no warrants but a UAPD flag regarding a strong odor of marijuana coming from his room from an incident when he had refused to consent for a search of his room.
The student was asked if the officer could search his room or if he wanted to give up anything he thought might be illegal. The student reached under his bed and handed over a 4-inch glass pipe and wooden humidifier with two surgical tubes and mouthpieces.
He also consented to a search of his room. The officer found a Poppycock Popcorn canister containing 8.8 grams of marijuana, a silver-colored grinder, rolling papers and two white pills the man verbally identified as “”codeine”” and “”Xanax,”” according to reports.
The student said he bought the marijuana and paraphernalia in Arizona but refused to say from where and for how much.
The student also said he did not have a prescription for codeine or Xanax, and that an unidentified friend had given him the pills.
He said the last time he smoked marijuana was the previous day.
The student was released and referred to the Dean of Students Office.
