I saw the signs … they stole them

A University of Arizona Police Department officer went to the area north of Yuma Residence Hall at 1 a.m. on Saturday in response to a report of vandalism. Witnesses said they had seen a group of eight or nine men pulling down street signs near East James E. Rogers Way. The officer was unable to locate the suspects, but he found two damaged signs and a broken gate arm. Near Second Street and Mountain Avenue, the officer found a City of Tucson pedestrian sign lying on the ground that had been pushed over.

The officer contacted Traffic Operations about the damage. He also noticed a broken wooden gate arm as well as a Parking and Transportation Services sign that had been that had been broken off and run over several times on Second Street. The officer notified PTS of the damage.

Man starts night with vodka, ends it with MIP

A UAPD officer went to Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall at 2 a.m. on Saturday in response to an extremely intoxicated man. The officer met with resident assistants who said they had seen two men carrying a third man up the stairs of the residence hall. When the men saw the RAs, they propped the unconscious man on the stairs and left quickly.

Tucson Fire Department paramedics transported the man to University of Arizona Medical Center–University Campus for extreme intoxication. The officer went to the hospital later that morning to speak to the man. The man said he had been at his friend’s sister’s house the night before and drank a lot of alcohol. He said he did not remember what he was drinking or what happened most of the night. He said he started off the night drinking vodka.

The man was cited and released for minor in possession of alcohol in body.

Coconino upchuck

A UAPD officer went to Coconino Residence Hall at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday in response to an intoxicated man. A resident assistant told the officer a man had been vomiting in the bathroom and was being treated by Tucson Fire Department paramedics for extreme intoxication. The man had red, watery eyes. His breath smelled like alcohol and he was speaking unintelligibly.

He was cited for minor in possession of alcohol in body and was transported to University of Arizona Medical Center–University Campus for further treatment.

*Man keeps count of drinks, then gets several more *

A UAPD officer went to Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall at 2:45 a.m. on Saturday in response to an intoxicated man. Two residents had flagged down Tucson Fire Department paramedics who were in the building because of an unrelated incident. The residents told paramedics there was a man sleeping in their room, and they did not know him. The paramedics removed the man and contacted UAPD.

When the officer arrived, he noticed the man had red, watery eyes and the smell of alcohol coming from his mouth. He told the officer he had been drinking. When the officer asked him how many drinks he had, the man pointed to 12 tally marks on his arm and said, “This many.” The officer could not understand anything else the man said.

The man was cited for minor in possession of alcohol in body and was transported to University of Arizona Medical Center–University Campus.
