“”Omigod, omigod you guys!”” Tuesday marks the debut of “”Legally Blonde the Musical”” at the Tucson Music Hall.

Elle Woods, a Delta Nu at UCLA, always gets what she wants. When her boyfriend Warner dumps her because she isn’t serious enough for him, she is determined to transfer schools and smart-up at Harvard Law to win him back.

The musical takes the audience along for a fast-paced, perky, smart, hilarious and hard-to-forget pink ride.

Woods and the rest of the cast will sing and dance their way to Harvard for eight Tucson performances. 

“”The story has a great message, and Elle Woods is a really good role model,”” said Tiffany Engen, who plays Elle’s best friend Serena in the show. “”I think it’s just one of those shows you will leave much happier than when you came in. It’s very similar to the movie so people who love the movie will love the musical.””

A UA sorority member is organizing a few sororities and other UA-affiliated groups to go see the musical together. Kaitlin Simpson, a communication junior and Chi Omega member, has gathered Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Delta Phi, Chain Gang and the Freshman Class Council to attend the musical.

“”The show is fun for everyone, especially in Greek Life, because we get the jokes maybe a little bit more than other people do. It’s got a good message full of girl power and that staying true to yourself never goes out of style. We knew the message was something the sororities try to stand for,”” Simpson said. The show was nominated for seven Tony Awards when it debuted in 2007 as well and was the basis for MTV’s reality television show, “”Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods.”” That year the show was also in the top 10 list of the most requested Ticketmaster Arts & Theatre Events. 

“”There really is something for everybody in this show. People of all ages come and see it. Girls love the show, but we see plenty of boyfriends, brothers and dads brought along, and by the end we definitely get them as well,”” Engen said.
