A resident of Sky View Apartments, 1050 E. Eighth St., was arrested for possession of marijuana at 12:33 a.m. Friday.

Police responded to the apartment complex on reports of the smell of burnt marijuana emanating from a room on the third floor. Police contacted the two residents of the room and asked them if they smoked. One of the men said, “”Yes, I have cigarettes in my room,”” according to reports.

The officers informed the residents about the smell of marijuana coming from their room. The men gave the officers permission to search the room. When asked if he had smoked marijuana that day the first man said, “”I may have smoked sometime today, but not in here,”” according to reports.

The other officer showed the investigating officer a blunt and ashes inside a solar panel project belonging to one of the residents.

Further investigation yielded two packs of rolling papers, a paper towel roll stuffed with toilet paper (used as a smoking filter), and a loose green leafy substance on one of the desks.

A red cup with green leafy residue was found in a trash can and a fresh bud was on the desk. The officers told the residents what was found and the first resident said, “”That’s all mine, he has nothing to do with this,”” and added, “”This is my stuff and I ashed in the solar panel,”” according to reports.

The substances tested positive for marijuana and the man responsible was cited and released at the apartments.

An unknown person vandalized two window panes at the Arizona Museum North building, 1013 E. University Blvd., sometime between Nov. 29 and 30.

An employee at the building told the officer that someone etched “”TMK”” into the north door window panes. It appeared that the letters were etched with a glass cutter. There are no suspects or witnesses.

A man reported his $1,000 bicycle stolen from the Main Library racks, 1510 E. University Blvd., at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

The man said he found his cable lock cut clean and lying where he had locked his bicycle. He could not provide the serial number and it was not registered with Parking and Transportation Services.

Police responded to the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., because someone stole a navy blue backpack filled with more than $1,700 worth of valuables at 12:18 p.m. Thursday.

The backpack’s owner told the officer that someone had taken it while she was standing in line at I.Q. Fresh for lunch 10 minutes earlier. She set the backpack down on the ground while she was placing her order and when she was walking away realized the bag was missing.

Inside the bag were her $1,200 Apple laptop computer, $400 iPod, $40 wallet with $20 in cash, and two debit cards. The woman has no suspect information.

Two underage female residents of Coronado Residence Hall were caught with alcohol in their systems outside La Aldea Residence Hall, 825 E. Fifth St., at 1:13 a.m. Nov. 28.

The officer saw the women walking back to Coronado Residence Hall from East University Boulevard along North Tyndall Avenue.

One of the women was swaying left and right while she walked and the other women was actively trying to hold her steady.

During the interview, one of the women would not make eye contact with the officer. Anytime she was asked a question her friend would cut in and answer for her. The officer heard the friend tell the woman not to answer any questions three times.

The officer interviewed the woman individually and she told the cop that they were returning from a house party where 30 people were in attendance. She added that she drank from three cups containing straight vodka. The other woman confirmed the house party and said that she only drank one beer at the party.

The two were diverted to the Dean of Students Office for underage drinking.

Someone broke into the temporary College of Law building, 1244 N. Fremont Ave., and stole a laptop, modem and candy sometime between Nov. 21 and Nov. 26 at 8:00 a.m.

An employee told police that when she arrived, the door to building A was ajar. When she entered the building, she noticed a laptop was missing and the door appeared to be kicked in.

Pictures were taken of the damage and theft while a lighter that was left behind was sent for fingerprint analysis. There are no suspects or witnesses.
