A suspicious person sighted in the area near East Mabel Street and North Vine Avenue was taken back to her group home around 10:30 p.m. Feb. 22.
A woman called police and said she saw someone trying to get into her neighbor’s yard.
She described the person as a white, heavy-set female in her mid-20s who was wearing a red shirt with white pants.
Police went to where the female was last seen. A neighbor said she was banging on her front door and bedroom window yelling, “”Let me in. I have a personal question for you,”” reports stated.
The female also attempted to open the neighbor’s door.
The officer saw a woman matching the female’s description in the driveway of another house, 1301 E. Mabel St., talking to a male resident.
The officer asked the woman what was going on, and she said she was walking around trying to make friends.
The resident said he heard banging on his bedroom window and the front door and went outside to check it out.
The assisting officer notified the other officer that the woman had a “”mental flag”” and was court-ordered to be in the care of the “”Endeavors”” group home, reports stated.
The officer verified this information and took the woman back to her home.
A silver Dell laptop, a Motorola flip cell phone and a history book were reported stolen from the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.
A male student reported the theft from Room A404 after he left to use the restroom at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 22.
He said he wasn’t gone for more than two minutes.
After noticing the items missing, the student walked around the library for a few minutes to see if he could spot someone holding his property before calling police.
Both the victim and UAPD watched library surveillance tapes and saw nothing that drew attention.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A member of the Hillel Center, 1245 E. Second St., reported the theft of a banner hanging in front of Old Main, 1200 E. University Blvd.
The theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Feb. 21 and 7 a.m. Feb. 22.
The banner was advertising Israel week and listed a schedule of events. It was worth about $240.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Police received a call from the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., from a male student who said his ex-girlfriend violated his harassment injunction against her again.
The student said his ex-girlfriend called him at least 160 times between Feb. 21-22 and left text messages as well.
The two students dated from January-June 2006.
On July 16, the male student placed the order of injunction.
The order stated that his ex-girlfriend could not make contact by phone, in person or in writing, including text messages.
UAPD attempted to call the woman, but there was no answer.
On Jan. 30, the woman was arrested for violating the order at her residence. The police suggested the male student notify the judge about the latest phone calls at the hearing for the Jan. 30 arrest.
A 27-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault after he chased a resident assistant and threw large rocks at him at 11:30 p.m. Feb. 22.
The male R.A. on duty at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., went to investigate shouts coming from outside the building.
The R.A. told the suspect to leave because he “”didn’t belong here,”” and the suspect started to shout profanity, chased the R.A. and threw rocks at him that were 4-6 inches wide.
UAPD arrived and arrested the man, reports stated.
“”I didn’t do anything, it was them that started it,”” the man said as he was being arrested, reports stated.
The male said Coronado residents began to yell at him as he walked by coming from a friend’s house, where he was drinking alcohol.
The suspect saw the R.A. talking to UAPD as he was pushed into the cop car and shouted to him, “”Pussy, you had to call the cops.””
The suspect was booked into Pima County Jail and warned not to trespass on the UA campus.
