Arizona men’s basketball head coach Sean Miller announced Wednesday that junior guard Elliott Pitts has chosen to leave the program for personal reasons.
Pitts, who was not on the bench Thursday during Arizona’s 99-61 win over ASU, made the decision on his own, according to Miller.
“He’ll step away from our team for the remainder of the year,” Miller said. I can’t elaborate beyond that.”
Pitts had not suited up for Arizona since the Wildcats’ 68-63 win over Gonzaga, but remained part of the team.
Miller added that Pitts will remain a student at the UA.
“Him and I have had a number of talks over the last couple of weeks, and I think we both felt that it would be in his best interest and focus on the task at hand academically,” Miller said.
