A quick look at the Daily Wildcat’s top five news stories published this week.
1. UA listed among world’s top employable universities

The UA was recently named one of the best colleges at producing employable students.
In a survey published by a French consulting group, RH Emerging, the UA was No. 124 on the list of the world’s top employable universities. The survey asked employers what factors they considered when employing university graduates, to which the most common responses in the U.S. were past experience, rankings and quality of staff and research facilities.
“I think that our Career Services does a great job about developing relationships with companies,” said Kasey Urquidez, associate vice president of Student Affairs and dean of undergraduate admissions. “When employers come to Tucson, they really believe we have a lot to offer.”
2. UA community to march against sexual assault, victim-blaming

The UA community is joining an international movement on Saturday to protest victim-blaming in sexual assault cases.
The event aims to combat the idea that women who dress a certain way are to blame if they are sexually assaulted.
Sarah Findysz, a public management and policy sophomore, said the event promotes an important message about who is at fault in cases of rape and sexual assault.
“I’m sure rapes and sexual assaults … go unreported a lot because of the [victim’s] fear that they could be considered a slut,” Findysz said. “It’s great to be aware that it’s not your fault when something like that happens to you.”
3. Virginia school says farewell to ‘A’ design

In July, the UA issued a cease and desist letter to Appomattox County High School, located in Virginia, regarding the school’s use of the university’s “A” design.
In the past month, the university reached an agreement with the school regarding a phase-out of the high school’s logo, said Alixe Holcomb, director of Trademarks and Licensing at the UA.
“We do it with any school that’s using the University of Arizona brand,” Holcomb said. “We don’t want to cause them any financial hardship and just want them to understand we’re doing our due diligence on protecting our brand.”
UA researcher uses tiger poop to study tigers and figure out a way to save the species

A graduate research associate in the UA School of Natural Resources and the Environment, Ashwin Naidu has devoted most of his academic career to the conservation of tigers and other big cats in urban-surrounded environments. The Reid Park Zoo has helped to fund Naidu’s research.
The decline in the tiger population can be linked to habitat destruction, illegal livestock and poaching, according to Naidu. He said he feels that the threats facing tigers are “dead serious.”
“I use poop to study wildlife,” Naidu said. “It’s a gold mine.”
5. Trojan knows: UA plays it safe, not sorry

The UA has been ranked the third-best university for sexual health programs and services, after Ivy League schools Princeton University and Columbia University.
Lee Ann Hamilton, the assistant director of Health Promotion and Preventative Services at UA Campus Health Service, said the Sexual Health Report Card takes into consideration a broad range of services, such as STD testing and educational programs.
“We were very thrilled because we have been moving up over the years,” Hamilton said. “The other two [universities] are very well-known for their services in sexual health and leadership in health ed.”
