At present, the UA’s proposed new bioscience park is a pile of puzzle pieces: a research lab here, a high school there, even a hint of student housing.

The university today will hold the first of two forums to allow the public to opine on the final product.

Those interested can visit the Kiva Room of the Student Union Memorial Center at 5:30 p.m.

“”We’re looking for people to tell us, ‘Yeah, we like this,’ ‘No, we don’t like this,’ all those kinds of things,”” said Molly Gilbert, media relations director for the Office of Economic Development.

The Arizona Bioscience Park, nicknamed the BioPark, will sit on 65 acres near the intersection of East 36th Street and South Kino Parkway as part of The Bridges, a mixed-use development.

The BioPark’s main function will be to create job opportunities in high-technology fields, largely through a proposed high school.

It will also feature a hotel and conference center, while The Bridges will contain a 110-acre shopping center and 175 acres of residential development.

Student housing could also pop up within the BioPark, Gilbert said.

“”We don’t know,”” she said. “”These all are concepts being discussed.””

The UA will present its plan for the park for the Arizona Board of Regents to approve in June.

The next public forum will occur April 23 in the Quincie Douglas Neighborhood Center, at the northwest corner of 36th and Kino.
