On Tuesday night, Arizona football tight end Jake Peters announced on Twitter that he will be entering the transfer portal.
The redshirt freshman was one of the first commits for the class of 2018, choosing Arizona over Washington, Hawai’i, Montana State and NAU.
This comes at no surprise, however, as the tight end position in offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone’s offense is pretty much nonexistent, as well as the fact junior Bryce Wolma plays most of the snaps and sophomore Zach Williams shares the other reps.
Peters hasn’t played at all this season, but he was a reserve for the Northern Arizona game earlier this year. He only played in one game last season, and he recorded one catch that was negative one yard.
As a California native, Peters could possibly move back to California to play for a heavy tight end team such as Stanford or USC, but only time will tell.
