Let the blood bath commence! “”Friday the 13th”” continues its tradition of horror and gore!

“”Friday the 13th”” maintains much of its original storyline with just a few variations. A group of college students go up to Trent’s (Travis Van Winkle) lake house which happens to be near camp Crystal Lake. At the same time, Clay Miller (Jared Padalecki) is trying to find his missing sister, Whitney (Amanda Righetti). The rest is history, Jason comes and people die.

“”Friday the 13th”” utilizes a lot of the old school scare tactics like the whole look-behind-the-shower-curtain-but-he’s-not-there trick. That wasn’t really a good thing, but not quite bad either. It just got a little repetitive. Also, a lot of the camera shots are right in the faces of the characters and I was expecting there to be lipstick marks on the camera. On a positive note some of the casting choices were very well selected. A personal favorite was Aaron Yoo who played Chewie. Yoo has the ability to pull off the dorky friend that every group has. He had some great lines such as “”Oh my god, there’s more room in a uterus,”” when he gets out from the back of a Cadillac Escalade.

However, one cast member I did not like, and could’ve probably done without. Travis Van Winkle seems to always play snobs and he does it all too well. He made up for it screaming like a six-year-old. I also liked how they kept the original music of “”ch-ch-ch…ah-ah-ah””. “”Friday the 13th”” is packed with thrills, twists, and gore. While this movie is still nowhere as good as the original, “”Friday the 13th”” didn’t turn out to be just another cheap sequel like “”Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.””
