Sean Miller and the Arizona men’s basketball team took every punch possible from UNLV on Saturday, and for the first time all season they punched back.
Arizona, the butt of every joke in the early going of the college basketball season, was poised and tough, fighting back from a 13-point deficit to beat the Runnin’ Rebels in Las Vegas at the Thomas and Mack Center. What this team missed in the Bahamas all-of-a-sudden came back as the Wildcats started to resemble the pieces of what made them the No. 2 team in the country just a week ago.
Several items stuck out in 91-88 win. First, junior guard Allonzo Trier resembled the All-American status he was nominated with by dropping 20 of his team-high 29 in the second half. The difference being he was far more assertive to the basket and less reliant on the three, instead choosing to let those shots come to him within the flow of the offense.
