A student was arrested for a minor in possession at North Cherry Avenue and East Mabel Street at 12:50 a.m. March 24.

An officer observed four white males walking southbound on the east side of the intersection. Two were carrying 12-ounce cans of Keystone Light, one was carrying a case of Keystone Light and the last man was wearing a straw cowboy hat.

As the officer turned his patrol vehicle around, the males turned and ran. The officer found one male hiding in some bushes east of the Highland Avenue Parking Garage.

The officer put him in handcuffs and asked how old he was. The male, who was a student, told the officer he was 19. The student had watery and bloodshot eyes.

The student said he had been drinking at a date dash an hour ago and didn’t know where his friends had gone.

The student was booked into Pima County Jail. The other males were not found.

An unknown person stole a UA employee’s truck, a Ford F-150 6501, at 8:40 a.m. March 26.

The employee left his truck unattended at Arizona Stadium, 540 N. Vine Ave., and upon his return, the truck was missing.

The keys to the truck were left inside, along with a bag containing $300, a set of keys to the UA Mall gates, keys to various UA vehicles, keys to two hot dog carts and a UA gas card.

The employee said the truck’s lift gate was down and that the truck can’t be driven with its gate in the down position. The employee said the suspect must have had prior knowledge of how to operate the lift to steal the truck.

The employee estimated that as many as 20 other UA employees know how to operate the truck.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

A man was arrested for driving on a suspended license and failure to appear for a previous court date at Circle K, 1610 E. Sixth St., at 12:01 a.m. March 27.

An officer stopped a black Saturn after a records check revealed the car’s registration had expired.

The officer asked the man if his license was suspended, and he said, “”yes,”” according to reports. The officer asked the man how long his license was suspended, and the man said, “”I don’t know, a long time, man.””

The man’s license was suspended for failure to appear at a court date. The officer told the man his car was going to be towed for the violation so he needed to do a vehicle inventory.

The officer found a quarter-full 16-ounce can of Lighthouse beer under the driver’s seat. The man admitted to the officer he had been drinking while operating his vehicle.

Upon the completion of another records check, the vehicle registration was current. The Department of Motor Vehicles’ computer had sent the wrong information.

The man was charged with driving on a suspended license, failure to appear for a court date and having an open container of liquor in a motor vehicle.

The man was cited and released at the scene, and his vehicle was impounded.

A student’s 1992 Dodge pickup truck was stolen from Zone 1 lot 2001, 1503 E. Chauncey Lane, at 11:18 a.m. March 27.

The truck had a red 2000 Polaris all-terrain vehicle in its bed at the time of the theft.

The suspects, two males between 25-30 years old, fled the scene in the truck and a black Jeep Wrangler with Sonora, Mexico, plates, according to a witness.

The witness said he tried to follow the suspects on foot but lost sight of both vehicles, which were traveling southbound on North Campbell Avenue, as they approached East Speedway Boulevard.

The witness then contacted the owner of the truck to inform him of the theft, got into his car and drove to Interstate 10, but he was unable to locate the stolen vehicle.

He notified police, who were also unable to locate either vehicle.

The victim estimated the truck to be worth $1,000 and the ATV to be worth $3,500.

A student reported her laptop computer was stolen out of her study room in the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd, at 8:10 p.m. March 27.

The student reported that sometime between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., an unknown person entered her locked study room and stole her MacBook computer. She said she was the only student with access to the room.

The thief entered the room through the ceiling, according to reports, which stated the suspect removed a ceiling panel and climbed over the south wall of the room.

The student said she would contact police with the serial number and model of her computer at a later time.

Police have no suspects.
