A police chase early this morning through three northern suburbs ended in a crash killing a man and injuring a woman inside the car, a police official said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s said an unidentified man in his 20’s was pronounced dead at 2:20 a.m. at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The woman was listed in critical condition.
A Morton Grove police official said a possibly stolen vehicle pursued by Skokie police crashed into two parked cars in the 5900 block of North Lincoln Avenue around 1:30 a.m.
Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle, but the police official said it hadn’t been determined which person might have been driving. He said that debris from the crash broke glass a the China Chef restaurant, but caused no structural damage.
Reportedly the silver 2000 Pontiac was reported stolen earlier in Glenview and an alert was communicated to neighboring police. Skolie police would not comment about the pursuit.
A Glenview police dispatcher said they were investigating the incident, but said it hadn’t been determined whether a crime was committed.
“”If it was, we’ll issue a press release later in the day,”” he said.
A spokesperson for the Cook County medical examiner’s said the office hadn’t been notified of any deaths in the accident.
