No. 3 Arizona basketball secured a perfect 18-0 home record and clinched the Pac-12 conference championship outright by defeating Stanford 79-66 Sunday night in McKale Center.
The Wildcats picked up right where they left off at halftime and continued to hold a steady double-digit lead over the Cardinal throughout the second half. Midway through the period, Arizona held a 66-43 lead over Stanford, and with 5:00 remaining, led by 18 points.
Freshman forward Aaron Gordon recorded his eighth double-double of the year, scoring 19 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Additionally, he had two assists, a block and a steal over 32 minutes.
Sophomore center Kaleb Tarczewski finished with 10 points, six rebounds and a block. He made all but two of his shots — both free throws — and fouled out with 3:47 remaining.
Sophomore guard Gabe York regained composure after a quiet first half and scored 12 points in the game’s final half. He shot 4-for-5 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range in the second half after shooting 0-for-4 from the floor in the first. He additionally compiled three rebounds in the contest.
