Gotta get outta here

A University of Arizona Police Department officer responded to the Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall on Nov. 23 around midnight, in reference to an intoxicated student who was attempting to start fights with residents on the fifth floor.

When the officer arrived, he approached the student, who was attempting to leave the building. The officer told him that he needed to speak with him, but the student still kept attempting to leave multiple times.

The officer then placed him in handcuffs so they could talk. However, the student was still not listening and tried to get up several times.

The student had apparent signs of intoxication, including red, bloodshot eyes and alcohol on his breath. The student was also argumentative and spoke incoherently.

The student was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail for minor with spirituous liquor in body.

Accidents happen

A UAPD officer responded to the Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall on Nov. 22 around 5:30 a.m.

The officer responded to a call in reference to a male student who had urinated on himself and was stumbling around his room while speaking incoherently.

The student’s roommate said that when the student got home, he began to urinate on his backpack and sweater.

The officer observed that the student seemed to be confused and kept telling the officer he was “good” and wanted to go to sleep.

The officer could smell alcohol on the student’s breath and noticed he had red, watery eyes and slurred speech.

Although he denied consuming alcohol, it was apparent he was intoxicated. The student was issued a UA student diversion for underage drinking.

Hungry

Around 10 p.m. on the Nov. 22, a UAPD officer responded to the Circle K gas station on Sixth Street in reference to a shoplifting incident.

The clerk on duty showed the officer a surveillance video of two non-UA-affiliates removing various food items from the shelves and leaving the store without paying.

The officer made contact with them as they were exiting the restroom. The woman threw two gum wrappers on the ground in front of the officer and refused to pick them up when asked.

The man denied being involved in the incident, although he was seen stealing food on the video and later told the officer that he did steal some donuts.

The woman told the officer she stole because she was hungry, and the man, her boyfriend, said the same thing. Both parties were arrested and booked into Pima County Jail.
