Today
“”The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Creative Visualization””
The author of this spiritually stimulating New Age book will be here for a reading and book signing. Afterward, you can creatively visualize yourself in the bar, because it’s Thursday night! 7 p.m. Free. Antigone Books, 411 N. Fourth Ave.
World Music Gang
This 20-member West African band will feature a Ghanaian percussionist named Bernard Woma. Are you Ghana go? 7:30 p.m. Free. Modern Languages building, Auditorium
Bohemian Plush: A Tribute to Queen
Without the head queen Freddy Mercury, this band will never really be the same. But if you still like Queen’s music, you can go see other bands covering it instead. Plus, proceeds benefit the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation. 8:30 p.m. $6. Plush, 340 E. Sixth St. (21+)
Tomorrow
Cult Classic: “”Naked Lunch””
This movie is a “”biographical celluloid interpretation”” of William S. Burroughs’ drugged-up novel. I’m not really sure what that means, but the book doesn’t really make sense either. 10 p.m. $5. The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.
Max Cannon’s Animated Series “”Shadow Rock””
Max Cannon, better known as the hilarious and freaking creepy ass guy behind the cartoon “”Red Meat,”” will show his animated series that was created for Comedy Central. If that doesn’t reel you in, there will be aliens, urine, TV weathermen, graphic depictions of dead clowns, sock puppets and muscular, half-naked men. (In the cartoon, I guess.) 9 p.m. $5. The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.
The Black Eyed Peas
I’ll give you a black eye myself if you don’t drive to Phoenix to see these guys. You know, because they’re so highly acclaimed and all. 7 p.m. $33.50. Dodge Theatre, 400 W. Washington St., Phoenix
Saturday
Club Congress Comedy Fiasco
A fiasco at Club Congress? Unheard of! I guess this one includes comedy and audience participation. Not to mention, it’s hosted by Robert Mac of Comedy Central. 6:30 p.m. $5. Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St.
Deadboy and the Elephantmen
One of the members of this two-person band used to be a Jehovah’s Witness. Not sure if it was the dead one or the elephant. Hopefully the elephant. With Golden Boots and the Transmissions. 9:45 p.m. $7. Plush, 340 E. Sixth St.
Sunday
The Lamplight Reading Series
This open mic session and book reading does not actually take place by lamplight, because that’s dangerous for your eyes. I believe it’s candlelight. 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free. Bookman’s, 6230 E. Speedway Blvd.
“”Black Coffee””
This adaptation of Agatha Christie’s murder mystery is about the death of some scientist. It was probably just the butler who did it. 3 p.m. $13 to $16. Live Theatre Workshop, 5317 E. Speedway Blvd.
Monday
Robert Rich
This musician, who plays “”organic electronics and sonic surrealism,”” really just looks like a sickly version of Moby. 8 p.m. $10. Solar Culture, 31 E. Toole Ave.
Arizona Wind Quintet
Faculty artists Patrick Neher and Nelzimar Neves will play nearly nonstop until we’re all annihilated. Dvorak can do that I guess. 7 p.m. Free. Holsclaw Hall
Tuesday
Children of Bodom
This hard metal band is important because it features five guys with possibly the worst hair ever created. It looks like what would happen if Sebastian Bach had chemical relaxers. With God Forbid, A Bullet for my Valentine. 7:30 p.m. $19.25, $22.25 day of show. Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St.
Wednesday
“”One… The Movie””
This “”docu-story”” is about a father of three who decides to make a film about how we are all one. I think the Beatles did something like that decades ago, but they didn’t interview Deepak Chopra. 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. $10. The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.
Old Pueblo Trout Unlimited
Come on, you know Sushi Ten is getting a little expensive by now. Learn to catch your own fish by going to this meeting. Plus, it’s kind of funny. 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Free. Sheraton 4 Points, 1900 E. Speedway Blvd.
