For the first time ever, the Interfraternity Council is hosting a Bring Your Own Beer tailgate on Bear Down Field before Saturday’s game in what organizers hope becomes a tradition for the student community.
To gear up for another football season, the IFC has curated a recurring weekend tailgate for students at the University of Arizona. The first will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.
These BYOB events have a strict 21-and-older policy, and only beverages under 15% ABV will be allowed on the premises.
“This was a concept that I had while running for IFC back in November, and it’s finally happening,” said Anthony Federico, the Interfraternity Council executive vice president. “I’ve always wanted this campus to be a football school and this is just the first step of student tailgates.”
The tailgate is open only to members of recognized IFC chapters and women, regardless of greek affiliation.
“I just heard about it on their IFC Instagram and assumed it was just [for] IFC men,” said Gamma Phi Beta President Karli Ramsey, who said she planned to get more information for her sorority members who are interested in attending.
All students planning to attend these tailgates will need their government-issued ID to enter. Wild West Security will be supervising this event.
