Handsy in handcuffs
A UA student was arrested in the lobby of the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall on Sept. 20.
Two University of Arizona Police Department officers were driving west toward the entrance of the residence hall when they saw a man assisting a student while walking up the stairs. The man lost his grip and the student collapsed to the ground.
The officers made contact with the pair inside the lobby. The man said he was in the residence hall and received a call from someone saying that a student needed help getting inside.
One of the officers helped the student sit down. Her left knee was scraped and a trail of blood ran to her ankle from the wound.
When she attempted to stand up, she stumbled, and there was a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her breath, as well as slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes.
The officers called the Tucson Fire Department to evaluate the student.
She spoke with the officers but refused to provide more than her first name. One of the officers told her she was being detained and was required by law to provide her name.
Instead, she repeatedly said, “Fuck you,” and flipped off the officer.
A student approached the officers with a CatCard he had found near the entrance of the building. A resident assistant confirmed the CatCard was the student’s and she was a resident.
University Emergency Medical Services arrived prior to TFD and began evaluating the student. She repeatedly pulled her hands away from workers and began cursing at them. When EMS workers put a pulse oximeter on her finger to check her oxygen levels, she ripped it off and threw it on the floor.
The student then said to an EMS worker, “I’ll punch you in the face, motherfucker,” and repeatedly tried pushing away the worker’s arms.
TFD firefighters completed their medical evaluation and the student was cleared to stay the night in her dorm under supervision. However, none of her friends wanted to watch her because of how she had been acting.
The student began pulling off her dress, revealing her underwear and saying she wanted to make out.
She sat down and urinated in her seat, leaving a large wet spot on the chair and her dress.
Another UAPD officer transported the student to Pima County Jail. While the officer was helping her get in his car, she grabbed his penis with both of her hands. The officer told her to never do that again, and the student laughed, asking the officer to make out with her.
The student was transported to Pima County Jail on charges of minor in possession of spirituous liquor, criminal damage and failure to provide true name.
