Weekend events allow students to dress to the nines. Despite visible g-strings and the occasional basketball jersey, UA students rely on chic yet comfortable outfits for the weekend’s festivities.

House parties, concerts, sporting events and bars see an array of fashionable UA men and women when the school week comes to an end and homework is no longer the topic of conversations.

The weekend is an excuse to put on makeup, blow dry or curl your hair, and for some guys, maybe slap on a watch and some cologne.

We checked out the styles from fashion forward bar-hoppers at O’Malley’s, 247 N. Fourth Ave., on Saturday night.

Tara Bale, a criminal justice administration senior, shows some skin in her black and white halter dress from Forever 21. A strip of lace high on her waist gives the dress an elegant flair. Bale’s hair is pulled back off her face, highlighting a pair of large earrings.

“”I usually don’t give a shit about hair,”” Bale said.

Adding to her already tall, thin stature are a pair of black strappy heels.

“”Look at my 3-inch heels,”” she said. “”I am a trooper.””

Jessica Bargenquast, a marketing senior, would rather dress comfortably when going out. Her low-maintenance style looks effortless. If the occasion calls for a birthday party or bar-hopping with her girlfriends, she might be seen in a dress or jeans and a dressier tank.

“”If I am just going out with close friends like tonight, I usually don’t dress up too much,”” Bargenquast said. “”I feel casual but fun and flirty.””

Cut-off shorts look casual yet stylish with Bargenquast’s long, flowing tank from Pitaya, 943 E. University Blvd.

Bargenquast said she sticks to satin flip-flops and a wristlet.

“”I don’t like carrying much when I go out,”” she said.

Finance seniors Ryan Soderquist (left) and Eugene Stark (right) dress up more when going to bars or clubs.

“”I would dress less nice at a house party,”” Stark said.

Soderquist wears a white collared shirt embroidered with black and gold stitching from Macy’s and jeans with white shoes.

“”I usually only take 10 minutes to get ready,”” he said. “”I just grab a shirt and a pair of jeans.””

O’Malley’s enforeces a dress code and Soderquist and Stark said that clubs like Level, 4280 N. Campbell Ave., require men to wear slacks rather than jeans and dress shoes.

Stark’s black Lacoste polo shirt and jeans are perfect for a Saturday night.

“”I don’t buy expensive jeans,”” he said.

For Jonelle Acosta, a criminal justice administration senior, a mini-skirt and a pink short-sleeve blouse keep her cool when going out on weekends.

“”I wear jeans a lot, but I’m wearing a skirt tonight ’cause it’s hot,”” Acosta said.

She also touches up her look with silver jewelry from New York & Company and subtle makeup.

Acosta said she typically doesn’t wear heels.

“”I like to dance at Cactus Moon,”” she said. “”I wouldn’t wear heels there.””
