Just taking a late-night swim, officer

Two UA students were arrested for criminal trespassing of the second degree at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on Wednesday.

At about 1:30 a.m., a University of Arizona Police Department officer observed three men and one woman on a sidewalk near Campbell Avenue and Fourth Street looking in the same direction of Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. As the officer drove past them, he saw two of the men walk from the sidewalk toward a gate located on one side of the aquatic center.

The officer circled around and observed the area. From where he parked, he could see only one man and one woman still remaining on the sidewalk looking at the gate. The other two men were no longer there.

The officer informed dispatch that there might be people in the aquatic center. Soon after, the officer saw the two men jump the gate as they exited the pool area to rejoin their friends waiting for them on the sidewalk. When approached by the officer, the two men exhibited symptoms of alcohol intoxication.

Both men were identified by their driver’s licenses. They were cited and released for second degree criminal trespassing. A code of conduct violation was forwarded to the Dean of Students Office.

Note left for hit-and-run victim

A hit-and-run accident was reported to UAPD on Wednesday at 12:48 p.m. The accident is thought to have occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a woman came to UAPD and reported that her vehicle was hit by another car, which then left the scene.

She parked her car earlier in the afternoon and did not return to it until 9:30 p.m. When she got back to her car, there was a note left that listed the color, make and license plate number of another car that had backed into her vehicle. The note did not provide any information on the witness who had seen this happen or how to contact them for further information.

The possible plates came back with information linked to a UA student. The UAPD officer photographed the damage, and the photographs were placed into evidence. The officer told the woman that he would follow up and provide her with an update on the case very soon.

The officer went to the address of the student that was listed in the phonebook but was not able to make contact and the suspect vehicle was not at the address. Follow-ups will be made to contact this individual.

Debit card discovered in union

A Wells Fargo debit card belonging to a woman was found in the Student Union Memorial Center and turned into UAPD as found property on Wednesday.

At approximately 9 a.m., the debit card was found by an anonymous individual and turned into UAPD. Using the UA phone directory to look up the owner listed on the debit card, the officer sent the woman an e-mail stating her card had been found and that it was currently being held at UAPD.
