Three students were arrested at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., for being minors in possession of alcohol after they were fighting at 12:28 a.m. Saturday.

An officer responded to the building regarding a fight between two men. There, he saw two men verbally arguing and a woman talking to both of them.

The men were out of breath and both of their shirts were torn. The officer separated the men and asked all three for identification.

The woman was stumbling and slurring her speech. The two men had bloodshot eyes. All three admitted to drinking alcohol that night.

The men said they were friends fighting over the woman, and that the fight was mutual.

A records check indicated that one of the men had a flag for trespassing at the residence hall, which was stated in a letter Residence Life sent him.

The man admitted he had received the letter but said he had only been outside the building. A resident assistant later told the officer he had seen all three individuals on the ninth floor before the fight.

The officer cited the man for trespassing.

The Dean of Students Office was notified.

Four students were found on the roof of the Ina E. Gittings building, 1713 E. University Blvd., and were referred to the Dean of Students Office for alcohol violations and trespassing at 1:47 a.m. Saturday.

An officer arrived on scene regarding a report of noises heard on the roof of the building. The officer spoke to an employee, who said he heard what sounded like loud footsteps that seemed to come from the roof from inside one of the studios.

As the officer reached the roof, he saw a woman’s face. He ordered her down a ladder, where he found three of her friends.

The four were dance students. They said they climbed up decorative metal posts from ground level and then up the ladder to hang out on the roof.

Three of them were women and one was a man. One of the women blurted out that the man had brought a can of malt liquor on the roof, which they all drank. Once on the ground, the officers told the four that if found on the roof again, they would be arrested for trespassing.

A man was arrested at East Speedway Boulevard and North Cherry Avenue for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 2:55 p.m. Saturday.

At 2:45 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on a trailer because a records check revealed its license plate was not valid for highway use.

While the officer identified the driver, he detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The officer asked the man if he had any weapons or illegal drugs in the vehicle, and he said he had a firearm wrapped on the floor behind his seat.

The officer asked if he could take possession of the firearm for his safety, and the man said yes.

The man exited the vehicle and opened the rear driver’s side door and pointed to a shirt containing the firearm. He also said he had a knife in his rear left pocket.

The officer took the knife and gun and asked the man if he could search his car. The man denied having drugs, but consented to a search.

The officer found a clear plastic baggie containing 3.8 grams of marijuana and a glass multicolored smoking pipe with residue wrapped in a red sweatshirt.

The man was released.
