A woman near the University of Arizona campus was shot multiple times by a UAPD officer Friday after failing to respond to the officer’s request to drop her weapon while walking toward another woman, according to the Arizona Daily Star.
Corporal Andrew Kisela shot the women — who Tucson police Sgt. Fabian Pacheco told the Star was mentally ill — near the 800 block on East Seventh Avenue around 5 p.m., the Star reported.
Kisela ordered the woman to drop her knife, but she did not and Kisela fired, hitting her at least three times. The woman is said to have non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Star.
