In this powerful new video, Juliet Schor scrutinizes what she calls “”the new consumerism”” – a national phenomenon of upscale spending that is shaped and reinforced by a commercially-driven media system. This film will be screened in the Gallagher Theater at 5 p.m.
Multi-Cultural Expo
The UA Hispanic Alumni club in association with UA Career Services and the UA Diversity Resource Office present the annual Multi-Cultural Community & Career Expo. The expo is an excellent way to connect with a diverse population of students, UA administrators and Tucson, state and national business professionals. This will be held in the North Ballroom of the Student Union Memorial Center from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Artist lecture: Gispert
Hip-hop, youth culture and the Cuban-American experience are key influences in the work of artist Luis Gispert. Creating art through a wide range of media, including photographs, sculpture, film and installation, Gispert often incorporates a high-gloss aesthetic. Luis will lecture in the Education building room 211 at 5:30 p.m.
