With only six days remaining until the general election, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will hold a campaign rally at the Arizona State University Fitness Complex in Phoenix today. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., and the event starts at 6:30 p.m.
Since Arizona became a swing state last month, Clinton’s campaign has employed its star-studded Democratic supporters in Sen. Bernie Sanders, First Lady Michelle Obama and the candidate’s daughter Chelsea Clinton to campaign in Arizona with hopes of stealing the traditionally red state. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign countered her push by sending his son Donald Trump Jr. to Phoenix and then visiting himself at the end of October.
One of the hot topics Wednesday night will be FBI director James Comey’s decision to reopen the criminal investigation into Clinton’s private email server—an issue Clinton thought she had put behind her at the beginning of her campaign.
FiveThirtyEight’s election forecast favors Trump winning Arizona’s 11 electoral votes 67 percent to 32 percent, at the time of publishing.
Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine will also campaign in Arizona later this week, holding a rally in Tucson and a Spanish only rally in Phoenix on Thursday. With only days remaining in the presidential election, Clinton’s campaign hopes to mobilize the generally Democratic Hispanic vote in Arizona.
The Daily Wildcat will have live coverage of the rally and we’re inviting you to join the discussion. You can follow our #ClintonAZ coverage on Twitter @DailyWildcat or using the #ClintonAZ hashtag.
