The men and women’s Arizona golf teams will be playing this upcoming week. Both teams are entering the final stretch before postseason play and look to gain some momentum before that begins.
According to golfstat.com, the Arizona men’s team is ranked No. 19 and the women’s team is ranked No. 22 in the country. With strong finishes both teams can climb the rankings and position themselves in a good spot for the postseason. With that said, it really all comes down to shooting a low number.
Women’s Golf:
Their last outing was an eighth place finish in the ASU Invitational played from March 26-28. The ASU Invitational was a bit of a letdown since the team was coming off a second place effort in the Clover Cup which was their best finish of the season.
Following the ASU Invitational, sisters Vivian and Yu-Sang Hou went to Augusta, Georgia to participate in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Unfortunately, neither sister would make the cut at the event.
The team will head to Albuquerque, New Mexico to participate in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational starting Sunday, April 11. The tournament is just 36 holes and will be played on the University of New Mexico’s Championship Golf Course. In 2020, Golfweek named UNM’s Championship Course as No. 17 on their list of best college golf courses. This is also the women’s last tournament before the Pac-12 Championship starts on Friday, April 23.

Men’s Golf:
The men’s last outing was a trip to Augusta, Georgia where they played in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational played from April 3-4. The team would finish in fifth place.
“We didn’t play as well as we can with mistakes to clean up, but it was good to hang tough at a new venue and move up the board on the final day,” head coach Jim Anderson told Arizona Athletics.
The men’s team has two more tournaments before the Pac-12 Championships. First, a trip to Santa Cruz, California to play in the Western Intercollegiate starting Monday, April 12. The Western Intercollegiate is played at Pasatiempo Golf Club No. 59 on golf.com 2020-2021 top-100 golf courses in America list. Then the team will have a short trip north to play in the Thunderbird Intercollegiate starting Friday, April 16.
